The Emerald is the journey of a ring. Its story starts in a small Welsh town when it is bought to celebrate an engagement and how it changes hands and moves through the lives of five very different women, linked together through fate. Leaving a trail of pathos and destruction in its path, it finds its way back to its roots. On the surface there is nothing to suppose the changes in ownership are anything but innocent; it's easy to have a ring stolen, to lose it, to find it or even to inherit it. It isn't until the ring comes full circle, turning up in the very shop where it was bought a few months previously, that things begin to have an eerie undertone.
