Lawrence Kenneth, a.k.a. Ren is not what you would call attractive, but to Mikayla Oakley he is everything. Her world revolves around him. Yet Ren sends her mixed messages. He says he loves her, but often acts like she's a disease. When Ren moves to Oregon, Mikayla still clings to him through e-mails and texts. She is so in love with him that she won't move on, even when it's obvious he has. Forever hopeful that Ren will change his mind, she tries to keep their friendship from melting away. Unfortunately the sun is out, and she can't keep their relationship from evaporating into thin air. In the end, Mikayla might find what she wanted was only a façade, and what's real (when it finally comes) might be better than imagined.
