The Cause J Allen Hill

The Cause tells the story of Daniel Grant, a 15-year old boy who leaves home in 1775 and walks across Virginia looking for adventure - and he finds it. But as the old saying warns, Daniel runs into "many a slip between the cup and the lip." His money is stolen, he falls in love with the wrong girl whose disapproving father hides her away in Philadelphia. Daniel follows to look for her, takes a job at City Tavern and accepts a beer delivery to Trenton, New Jersey in time to stumble into General Washington's camp on the eve of the American victory there. Thrust into the thick of the the battle preparations, he crosses the Delaware and undertakes a special assignment. His adventures have only just begun.
