Its continued growth and penetration of the low end of the market, under the control of the heir to the family fortune, forces Lord Bollard, the head of the major international fast food chain Kwiksnak Chicken, to take drastic action, but which ends in his downfall. His sudden death leads to the collapse of Kwiksnak with the result that its assets and his estate are bought by the Collective, which becomes the dominant force in catering, gains the epithet 'The Omega Empire', and demonstrates its supremacy by building a new town on the Smallcroft estate.
