No Way Out
Den Barry
Mike Powell is a middle-aged college lecturer and a straight up, reliable guy. Like many men, he has his minor obsessions and idiosyncrasies; He hates modern names; he bemoans the abuse of the English language; and he mourns the demise of good manners. Mike has a son he hasn't seen since he separated from his somewhat unreliable ex-wife, Maddie. He has spent years wondering how Liam might be doing but has begrudgingly buried this part of his life inside. That is, until one day out of the blue, he receives a letter that turns his life on its head. Much of what follows is unexpected, unsolicited and unwelcome, and filled with darkness, tears and despair, blame, recriminations and the regret of missed opportunities as well as new love, friendship, imaginary pets, and of course, Mike's first love, punk rock music.
