The year is 1897 and Hal and Myra are in love. They've dated for some time, spending all the time together that they can, and both of them long for things to progress to something more long-term. Standing in their way is Hal's sister, Cordelia. She hints to her brother that she has some feelings of disapproval towards Myra. Hal tells Cordelia that her ideas about Myra are all wrong and assumes she will see the light. In the meantime, Myra has been spending the time she isn't with Hal caring for her ailing uncle and trying to get on Cordelia's good side.
