The story is told in first person by an engineer in charge of a study to build a dam in a remote place called Arkham. There is an area of land called "cursed wasteland" that is different from all that causes unpleasant sensations. A neighbor village elder explains that the reason for the state of this plot is that a meteorite crashed near a farm releasing a stranger who hid in the bottom of the well (this entity was so strange that even the locals nor scientists studying the meteorite realized he was alive until he left the planet); with passing time, as the poison of space stretched, plants and trees first (trees that they learn to move in its branches), and the animals then begin to undergo mutations, changes color, unpleasant odors, finishing affecting the family that inhabits the farm.
