The Book of Ross

The recorded history of the Ross family in the Midlands of South Carolina begins with Isaac Ross moving from the Mecklenberg County area of North Carolina to Orangeburg County, in South Carolina around 1750. Other Rosses came from the same area to Kershaw County in the early 1770s and the family grew in that area. Major parts of the family moved to Mississippi seeking better fortune, while others remained in the eastern Midlands area of SC. Records are very rare, but with certainty, the Ross family roots extend from Scotland through Virginia, North Carolina, and into eastern South Carolina.
