FBI Agent ben Douglas is promote to supervisor and leaves the violent crime squad to take charge of the property crimes squad. He enters the world of truck hijacks, jewel thieves, art theft and the mob controlled web of fences. Before he can really get to know the agents on his squad they are confronted with a group of truck hijackers who select his value loads and shoot and kill the drivers. In the midst of this investigation the squad has to deal with the recovery priceless art stolen from a museum in Florence, Italy. The book moves from crisis to crisis culminating with a shootout at an armored car company.
