Tamara Jenkins is an undergraduate student at the University of Montana. She is on a dig to finalize her thesis and receive her doctorate. She earns her doctorate based on her finding at a dig she put together to research Native American Tribes that lived in Montana. Upon receiving her doctorate, she prepares to leave the dig. On the last day before she leaves she notices a cave that she had not seen before. Entering the cave and going to the rear, she discovers a door and with that door her life changes forever. She sees that there is a lock or device in the center of the door and turning it, the lock clicks into place and the door swings in. She becomes the heir to all the magic and knowledge amassed by every sorcerer who has ever lived. She becomes the protector of those who practice the Arcane Arts and defender of the world against the forces of Darkness. She and her fellow sorcerers enter into an all out battle of magic and wits with Clyde Barnwell, the witch Kind of Scythia. To save the world
