The Companions of Embrellon John R Moore

Fifteen hundred years before Colonel James Whitlaw is marooned on the planet Embrellon the Companions stand watch with the Skree, a sentient race that resembles the lions of Earth having five meter wings, one meter horns, and are the size of a large horse from Earth. The Skree have the ability to form a telepathic bond with the Brellon, a humanoid race that have purple hair, green eyes, pointed ears, and arched eyebrows. The telepathic bond that the Skree form with the Brellon creates a symbiotic relationship, and they share each other's thoughts, feelings, strength, and energy. The Skree speak through the bond with their Brellon Bond-Mate, and have the power of speech. The Companions are based on the Island of Varna, off the coast of the main continent of Embrellon.
