The story begins in an era bygone, in the farthest most reaches of Terra, in the lands of Sheriden. Ruled by the corrupt King Anathra, a pact was made between the king and the evil sorcerer, Diabolus. Unbeknownst to his people, Anathra misled and fathered a daughter from a dark, mysterious maiden of the Black Swamp which bordered his lands. To hide his deed, he silenced the beautiful young woman and her clan and left their bodies to the marsh. His secret safe, he gave the child to Diabolus as payment to wield a spell of power over his kingdom, one which would control the many warring territories within his dominion. Diabolus took the infant and raised her under his care to one day become his apprentice. Time passed as the armies of Sheriden enslaved the lands and Anathra ruled all in his grasp by force and fear. But the spell of power was too much for the weak minded king, and he soon desired even more conquest. His lust for control turned towards his smaller neighbors of Kahn and Haillen. To the south, King Eron of Caasthia is warned by his trusted mage, Talamah, of evil once again stirring to the north. He fears someone may be uniting the warrior beasts, the Haug, and preparing for conflict. While Talamah goes in search of proof and Eron calls to the Southern Alliance to rally, neither are aware that Caasthia's northern garrison, led by the fearless Captain Goenz, has already come under attack...
