Throughout, Nisa battles brainwashed soldiers, vampire-like creatures, enemies that can't be touched, plane hijackings, a handsome enemy who takes a grotesque liking to her, warehouse bombings, a cruel child prodigy, scientists bent on a sickening revolution, and even herself. Unaccustomed to the new responsibility bestowed on her, Nisa must cope with both external and internal demons in learning how to contain herself and her grotesque secret or risk killing others.
