A ferocious storm is heading toward the small town of Croton on Hudson, New York. For months Denuda had worked on the perfect kite but thus far it just wouldn't fly. The meterologists predict hurricane force winds. Denuda tells her little sister that if the approaching storm's winds can't fly her kite then none can. The storm hits and everyone in town takes shelter, except Denuda. She braves the wind and rain and releases her kite into the air. Not only does her kite fly but it takes her with it, up, up and into the clouds. When she touches back down to solid ground she realizes she is not in Croton anymore. She is in a magical land where nothing is what it seems and now all she wants to do is find her way home. But the journey is far more perilous and exciting than anything she could have imagined.
