This is what armed-response coast guard officer Stacey's reality becomes when she survives a gunshot wound that should have killed her. But there's a price. She's now able to see Death personified-as an ordinary man in an everyday suit. She lives, but Death is her new best friend.



Is Stacey losing her mind? If she isn't, what does all this mean?



As Stacey tries to cope, complications arise when an officer from internal affairs is sent to investigate the attack on her. That's how she meets Steven-and this "man in a suit" becomes the focus of his probing questions.



Circumstances draw Stacey and Steven to one another, and love blooms. But Stacey must hide Death's constant companionship from Steven, who is unwittingly determined to find out who this mysterious man is.
