Laments for Hobbes is a book of poems and stories written during a time of significant grief and despair after the loss of a beloved pet. In the beginning there did not seem to be an end to the sadness. What took place over 18 months since the passing was a truly transformational and growth promoting journey, reflected in the book preface. I had no intention of sharing my thoughts and writings about Hobbes with anyone. They were personal and just really important for me. Recently I had the idea to share these writings as it occurred to me they may be beneficial for those experiencing loss. I felt very alone during my grief. Maybe we can take solace in recognizing that, yes we may be personally alone during such hard times, but collectively - as other's have experienced similar despair, we share something very meaningful. In this shared understanding we can take comfort in knowing we are not alone. There is beautiful light at the end of the tunnel.
