We brought my mother, Catherine Rilling, home from the hospital terminally ill, July 5, 1982. We had decided to care for Mother at her home, as she had asked us to do. Since Mother's arrival home she couldn't sleep at night and asked me to stay up with her. I had worked all day and I was in need of some sleep. I prayed that God would help me to stay awake. When I finished my prayer, a feeling came that I would be all right, just pick up a pen, and give thought. So I did just that, and nothing happened, as I consciously was thinking of the pen in my hand. When I quieted my mind and actually gave sincere thought, it happened.
