It's April of 1941, and the world is teetering on the edge of disaster. Frank Fiorelli has his work cut out for him as a representative of the US State Department in Hong Kong. The Japanese Imperial Army now occupies most of China, and many fear that Hong Kong will be the next to fall. Foreign intelligence agents are frantic to use every scrap of information to their advantage.



Frank's mission is to befriend and seduce the daughter of a Chinese billionaire. His superiors have made it clear that if he fails, he could be on the next flight back to the United States, or worse.



Frank's target, Chan Ti-Ling, has lived a largely loveless life of luxury. A highly educated woman, she's been groomed to take over her father's enormous financial empire managing a rice cartel. Ti-Ling has other plans for her life but is caught between family duty and her secret dreams. When she meets Frank, she finally begins to feel the warmth of love.



As romance blossoms between the two, Frank finds himself playing a dangerous game. If he makes one wrong move, both lovers could end up as two more casualties of the escalating war.
