This Mystery/Comedy takes place in 1953 in Bergans Ferry, a serene town located in Northern Idaho on the Copper River. Lottie Rainwater, a fiery righteous Norwegian mother and her diverse family, are plagued by hardships. Lottie's husband, a Nez Perce Native American, has lapsed into a coma. Their old house next to a railyard is in foreclosure. A death in the family unveils untold secrets. Lottie is shattered. Her brief comical stay in an institution and job attempts are the talk of the town. An angel in disguise comes to their rescue. The Lindstroms, Lottie's adoptive family, are interwoven in this story. They also have their afflictions. Mystery and humor runs deep in the two families and in Sheriff Taylor, their amusing friend. Is the Nez Perce treasure in Bergans Ferry?Fred Rubio, a Northwest author, came from a diverse family. He was raised in an old house next to a railyard in the 40's and 50's. As a boy, he escaped reality at times by daydreaming and could relate to the downhearted ones around him. His life experiences helped him create unique comical characters that are flawed but loveable. They stumble through life but are victorious at the end. A wholesome story for all ages.
