The battle for the separation of church and state was once lost by Christian Humanists, but won by their secular counterparts in the Age of enlightenment. Recognizing its importance in a democracy, it was written into our Constitution long before we became multi-cultural in the age of globalism. In contemporary America, it is under attack even by those, who profess to be originalists about the Constitution among politicians, and by many administrators and classroom teachers in education. This is written in defense of the Constitution, and the proposition that recognizing the constantly changing conditions in our lives, the welfare of society cannot be based on a foundation cast in stone.
