Shanaya LeBlanc is sentenced to death along with her serial killer husband for murdering her two-year-old daughter Cassia. While her execution date comes closer, a group of FBI agents questions Shanaya about where she buried her daughter's body after murdering her. Fifteen years earlier, Kaveen Perera moves to Cincinnati from Sri Lanka to pursue his PhD and while there he meets his childhood friend, Shanaya. He secretly develops feelings towards Shanaya even though she was already married and has a child.
