Soaring. As years go by, life can wound us. And yet, we pick ourselves up, turn tentative baby steps into confident giant ones, lift off, and soar. SOARING WITH BROKEN WINGS is a collection of collections written over the past twent or so years. Poetry mostly, but a few prose pieces that fit the theme are included. The first collection, "Soaring with Broken Wings" deals with illness, aging, and hope. "Soaring Together" is made up of poems about friendship and romance. The poems in "Flying for Fun" take a lighter, humorous look at life's stumbling blocks. "Learning and Singing in Flight" examine life as a teacher and as a writer. In the final two collections, the poems turn from personal to planetary. "Inching Through the Clouds" deals with war, hunger, inequality and earth-woes. "Soaring Toward Sunlight" focuses on possibility and hope.
