The real hero of this story is Boysie the Jack Russell. His sister Polly (brown and white) also plays a role and Uncle Rupert and Aunt Diana have significant roles. The story begins in a castle on a small island in Loch Bendull in the Scottish Highlands. It quickly moves from the ice and snow, to the blistering heat of Olive Tree, a farm in the Boland near Cape Town in South Africa. Surrounded by mountains there is even a glimpse of Table Mountain. They plant thousands of olive trees and build an olive crushing plant. Life, is never dull on Olive tree, love and fun are interrupted by fires, storms, lightening and floods. This is a story of the real South Africa with all its tragedy and wonder.
