The Cross, The Blood, Our Sin, and God's Glory

The message of the cross speaks a message louder than that of a thousand bolts of lightening all striking at once in the night sky. Such a story would tell of a majestic yet meek God so willing to save sinful man that He would step down from the glories of heaven in order to take on flesh. To not only satisfy His own law's righteous demands by perfect obedience to it in the place of man's failure to do so, but He also would satisfy His own wrath by taking man's sins and placing it upon Himself. To hang on a tree was to be declared a curse and God did this for you and for me. He was our substitutionary atonement, not when we were most deserving but when we were most guilty and stained with our sin. Precious blood was spilled for man's wicked soul, and in a moment, as God looked at Jesus' travail, God's wrath, holiness, and justice would be satisfied once, for all, towards those who would believe in this slain Lamb and Messiah.
