Gold for Australian Investors is the first book written for the Australian investment market and its participants looking predominantly at the performance of gold in Australian dollars and the role it can play in an Australian investor's portfolio. Where relevant it will include data and research looking at gold in other currencies, as well as examples of international investors who own gold, and their rationale for doing so. But this book has a specific and deliberate Australian tilt, and includes interviews with Australian gold investors and examples of Australian diversified funds with strategic long-term physical gold exposures. It is important to clarify that this book is not an economics textbook per se. Whilst it will mention sovereign debt levels and monetary policy settings where relevant, it will not delve in great detail into the potential risks of quantitative easing and low to negative interest rates. Likewise, whilst we will mention historical returns, as well as current valuations and yields for select asset classes where relevant, this book will not express a strong view as to the likely direction of equity and fixed income markets in the coming years. It will also steer clear of the seemingly eternal debate that rages between hard money and fiat currency advocates, focusing instead on the demonstrably evident ways physical precious metals can help protect and build wealth for all Australians today, irrespective of where they sit on the wealth spectrum.
