Almost everything we do in Physics is about measurements. In this book, we present very fundamental introductions to physical quantities. The distinction between fundamental and derived quantities is well explained using very numerous examples. There is very excellent tutorial on how to take measurements with the vernier caliper and with the micrometer screw gauge. The book also presents the ideas of units and dimensions in a manner that is useful even for students taking advanced courses in Physics. Our thinking is that it is very important for science students to understand fundamental ideas about measurements and to be able to use this understanding to drive their learning in different other aspects of science. The book presents very clear explanations of things we think students ought to know about measurements of physical quantities. There are also numerous examples to guide the students' learning, and exercises to test their understanding of the topic.
