Piano recitals, science experiments, and a lost dog lead twelve year old Christy along a path of healing after the loss of her father. Along the way, she finds that love, laughter, friendship, and compassion remain steadfast even in the face of hardship. Join Christy and her brother Todd as they make positive choices that change their own lives, and those of others, for the better. Using fictional characters to teach important concepts, this warm and uplifting story is intended as a short and non-threatening guide for children ages 9 to 12 who have experienced a loss. It can be used in individual or group grief therapy to open communication with children who are grieving, and in classrooms to support the development of empathy towards those who are struggling through hard times. Discussion questions about coping and resilience are included for use by parents, teachers, and counselors.
