Seventeen years after the attack that claimed her father's life, Kassidy von Detten is back in Engia, the steam driven city that tore her life apart. Trying to right the wrongs done to her family Kassidy is up against some stiff competition. A clever man named Luca Ventimiglia has taken over her father's gang, the Dreadcranks, and is unwilling to relinquish his position that he fought so hard for. Another hurdle to overcome will be the O'Brien, Foley, and Grekova families, an oligarchy set up to rule Engia in the absence of reason. Together they head the rival gang, the Absynthe Ring. While both groups are after the long lost hidden treasure of Kassidy's sky pirate father, Captain Wilhelm von Detten, there is still a lingering question of it's existence at all. Can Kassidy, the Pyrette Queen, provide clarity to the growing tension in Engia, or only make it worse?
