During 2012 and 2013, a group of 4 Brazilians decided to travel around the world to find out about new emerging models of education. Motivated by TED Talks, stories heard from friends and relatives, they raised more than US$ 30,000 through a crowdfunding campaign to visit and to learn about these spaces. After more than 300 interviews with students, former students, founders, teacher, parents, the book "Around the World in 14 Schools" tells the story of this journey through 9 countries. The approach is not to judge or to compare the schools but to offer a diversity of models and frameworks. Stories covering formal and informal (not formally connected to the education system in that country) schools and learning spaces. From kindergarden to Masters. From education based on technology to education immersed in Nature. This is just a sample on the huge diversity of models we have in this planet. Education experts like Fritjof Capra, Howard Garner and Jose Pacheco were invited to write a reflection at the end of the book together with other Brazilian specialists and activists. This book was one of the sparks of a large number of initiatives born in Brazil to raise awareness about different possibilities in education.
