Thomas Pigglewick and his father Michael absolutely loved their vintage model railway set. With construction starting years before Thomas was even born, the train set has always proved to be a rather proud achievement for the Pigglewick family, and an object of bonding for the father and son ever since. Although construction wasn't always the most exciting thing for little Thomas, the end result was undeniably spectacular. Little does he know, however, that the family railway set will soon become the site of a mystical revelation that will change the life of the Pigglewick family forever. After waking from a terrible nightmare, Thomas experiences a series of increasingly unexplainable events that all lead to the same conclusion: there's something wrong with the train set. Before he gets a chance to explain this to his parents however, the whole family is whisked away on a daring adventure, transported into the model railway itself with only the family pets left to fend off these otherworldly forces. Attempting to get themselves back home, the dysfunctional Pigglewick family are forced to band together for a rescue mission that's a far-cry from the mundane routine of their daily lives.
