When God's Word goes from head knowledge to being placed in the heart, it can take root and bear life. We all need to know His Truth in order to recognize what is counterfeit. Our culture tries to tell us what we believe and what we are to feel. Often times these beliefs are accepted as truth, such as: -We accept that it is normal for children to be afraid at night. God's Word says in Proverbs 3:24, when you lie down you will not be afraid. Your sleep will be sweet. -Divorce can cause an emotional tug-of-war, and our culture says children are resilient. God's Word says in 1 Peter 5:7, they can throw all their fears and cares and worries to God because He cares for them. -Rejection can make children feel hopeless. God's Word says in Jeremiah 29:11, that His thoughts and plans for them are good, to give them a future and a hope. If we do not teach our children God's Truth through His Word, they can be told something false that sounds like truth, and believe it. Once you have tasted a T-bone steak, no one can convince you that a hot dog is the same thing even though it has some beef in it. We must educate our children God's Word which gives life so it can go down to their very "roots" and grow. "Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught..." Colossians 2:7 (NLT)
