She expects to be very bored with no other children to play with, but she soon discovers that her family have secrets and mysteries she could never have guessed at. On her first day, she finds an old fashioned camera in the attic as well as an ancient map, and takes them with her to walk her aunt's two dogs. She thinks she will take some photographs, but she discovers the camera has magic powers. She meets lots of new friends, among them a mermaid and a fairy, and learns about the witch who haunts her family.
