The Hanging Rock Iron Region encompassed Lawrence, Scioto, Jackson, Vinton, Hocking and Gallia Counties in Ohio; and Greenup, Boyd, Carter, and Lawrence Counties in Kentucky. In 1826, when the firstfurnace was lit in Lawrence County, Ohio, the history of the county andits people would be changed forever. Each furnace would leave its own mark in the sands of time.
