Joe Stewart
While on vacation from his position as a Kentucky state chemist, Mac Corbit visits his boyhood home place. His purpose is twofold, get help for his aging mother and spend some quality time in the backwoods of eastern Kentucky with his forty four special. A phone call from his boss sets in motion a chain of events that will nearly get him killed. What should have been a routine investigation of a fire entangles him with a vicious scheme of extortion and murder. Meanwhile Mac manages to find the love of his life.
