This book proposes a model or blueprint for engaging the Guyanese diaspora in national development purposes, and initiatives. A description of the blueprint is delineated and its many parts outlined and its effective use rationalized. The context for diaspora engagement, approaches and factors that facilitate diaspora mobilization are explored. This book addresses a number of key historical imperatives, foundational challenges and obstacles to diaspora engagement and discusses strategies for overcoming these. It also examines beneficial projects for engagement, examples of effective engagement and sources of engagement funding. The material presented aims to inform Guyanese in the diaspora and policymakers in the homeland on existing practices and provide a guide for formulating policies to engage the Guyanese diaspora as an active partner for development in Guyana.
