Charity considers herself damaged goods. She's more than hesitant to enter into a new romantic relationship, but when she has car trouble, a handsome mechanic rescues her. He calls himself James, and she thinks for a moment this might be the guy. She learns too late that James has some serious dark secrets. It turns out James is a gargoyle-part of the never-ending battle between good versus evil on Earth. Their sexual chemistry is extreme, and even levelheaded Charity can't resist the temptation. Soon, the mismatched pair is in love with a baby on the way. Still, she worries about the supernatural nature of her soon to be husband. She worries also about his family. Do they mean her harm? Even more frightening, do other supernatural beings mean her harm? Charity won't give up James; their connection is so strong, they practically hold ownership over one another. Still, heavenly forces want them apart, and no place is safe from the battle of angels and demons.
