Scripture admonishes us that we will know the substance of the believer, not by "works," but by the fruit they bear. The Fruit of the Spirit is an in-depth study of the work of the Holy Spirit as He grows the very essence of His character within the child of God. Gifts and callings may shoot you to the top, but only godly character has the ability to sustain you there. Fruit is not immediately evident in the new born believer, but over the process of time, it grows into a visible expression of God Himself. As we give the Lord our all, we are able to walk in His fullness. The maturity of fruit is known by squeezing it. Mature fruit will withstand the high-pressure situations of life.
