A LOVE STRUCK DREAM BECOMES A NIGHTMARE In September 2008 a youth loses control of his car in London and ploughs into pedestrians, killing Alex Elliott's twenty-seven year old wife, Hannah. The youth gets five years for causing death by dangerous driving; Alex feels he has been given a life sentence. He becomes a social recluse, drinks heavily and slides towards oblivion. But then he meets Kaena Messenger and she drags him out of the gutter and begins to rebuild his self-esteem. Believing they have a future together, he moves in with Kaena but finds it impossible to give her the kind of deep love he had with Hannah. Their relationship suffers, though Kaena remains resolute. One day Alex sees and becomes infatuated with a complete stranger - a girl he sees in a café. Unsettled by this experience, he looks again at his relationship with Kaena. A few weeks later, during a lunch-break in Hyde Park, he sees the mystery girl again and this time he feels compelled to talk to her. Her name is Emma Street and they agree to have an innocent lunch together after which Alex knows what he must do. He leaves Kaena for Emma ... but who is she and what does she want?
