Based off of the author's own life, The Woodsman tells the story of a man's trip into the woods. This modern day parable addresses the issues surrounding depression in effort to help those suffering from depression see the hope of not simply surviving, but thriving. The book is practical, easy to read, and relatively short making it an easy resource for those suffering from the lack of motivation that so often comes with depression. While easy to read it also takes on the complicated issue of dealing with the "why"s (why did this happen? Why won't this get any better? Etc) and "How"s (How will this ever get better? How am I going to deal with this? Etc) of life through what the author calls Living the Question. The book claims to be, and truly is, no how-to book, or self help manual. Its main goals are to share that the reader is not alone, and that there is hope to actually living life again.
