Miss Ophelia Pitt, leading actress of the New Players Theatre, is stranded in Brussels in the dangerous aftermath of the Battle of Waterloo. Desperate to return to London in time to start rehearsals for a new play, she tricks the haughty and disagreeable Sir Guy Gilmour into escorting her home in the guise of an eighteen-year-old schoolgirl.
