A bar on the Eastern Shore of Maryland is the scene for a chance encounter between a young woman and a man. Together for a day, they share their stories, doubts and fears as they question the direction of their lives and are drawn together. A Columbia, Maryland suburban neighborhood creates the backdrop for three families as they encounter the challenges of marriage, raising children and sustaining relationships. Their mutual support and understanding create lasting bonds. Homeward bound to Maryland from Pittsburgh, PA, a divorced mother of three struggles to regain her life, heal her children and resume her career. Finding love again is an added bonus. A happy ending turns to frustration as an older couple discover that the challenges they overcame are resurfacing in the lives of their children, while they are nearly powerless to help.
