St. Casimir's Children
Joan Morris Reilly
This is the story of a small group of immigrants who settled in Westfield, Massachusetts at the turn of the century. They came for various reasons but their dream was to return home someday. As they became entrenched in the community they became citizens and collectively formed St. Casimir's Society. They were determined to have their own church with a Lithuanian speaking priest. This became a reality in 1917 and survived until 2003. St. Casimir's, like many other catholic churches, now stands empty - a testament to changing times and demographics.
