The history of the Iowa Hill Divide in Placer County, California begins in 1850 with the Gold Rush, even before California became a state. The first school on the Divide opened in 1854, and others soon followed. This book documents the rich history of these schools and includes:

- Histories and maps of the six school districts on the Divide: Iowa Hill, Wisconsin Hill, Monona Flat, Red Point (Humbug), Damascus, and Prospect Hill

- History of each of the five school buildings in Iowa Hill, including the solar-powered school

- Complete lists of students, teachers, and enrollment for every year the school was open from 1926 until it closed in 2010, along with two of the four Independent Study years

- Extensive historical lists of students, teachers, and enrollment back to the gold rush era

- Biographies of selected students, teachers, and administrators

- Numerous photographs, some published for the first time, plus maps and other illustrations

- Chronology of the schools on the Divide

The Second Edition enhances the sections on the Remodeled Schoolhouse in Iowa Hill (1981-1984 years) and the Red Point School District, including expanded student rosters for both and a photo of the schoolhouse in Humbug Canyon.
