This screenplay is about keeping promises, taking responsibility, helping others, having goals and dreams, and following your passion. Five-year-old Elizabeth has lost her parents in an accident and goes to live in the country with her fraternal Grandfather, a famous writer of authentic "Old West" stories. Elizabeth and her Grandfather live in simple, rustic surroundings, reminiscent of the Old West times. Elizabeth frets about "being alone," especially when she feels the loss of her parents, and then ultimately her Aunt Kathryn and then her Grandfather. This story follows the life of Elizabeth, from a four-year-old, to a teenager, to a young adult, falling in love with Daniel, and a unique, serious promise to her Grandfather. Elizabeth learns that the door in Grandfather's office is a portal through time which people in the "earlier times" can enter her time, and vice versa. Can her love for Daniel be realized? Will Daniel break his promise? Can they manage to live in "modern times" but "work" in "earlier times?" Or, will Elizabeth feel alone again, and sad but resigned to accept her responsibility, carry on, and do her very best?
