Kai is a thief, living in Durskin city. But then he is caught stealing incriminating documents from a duke, and he escapes with an irritating hanger-on and a hypnotizing stone. From then, things just got stranger. He reads the terrible contents of the scroll, then accidentally adopts a baby dragon. Everyone knows dragons are wild, except for a couple of barbarian tribes. Kai sets off, along with a baby dragon and a girl whose only dream is to be a famous knight, to save the dragons. They are armed only with her sword, a dagger and a scroll detailing how the Duke is capturing dragons to use their claws as weapons. This is the story of Kai's adventures.
