Letters of the Legendary Adam Osgood

This book is a collection of Drop Cap examples from the Columbus College of Art and Design's Illustration for Graphic Design and Illustration Capstone classes of 2015. Hand lettering is a fantastic example of the beautiful harmony that can work between traditional art skills and graphic design. This year students in both classes were challenged to develop illustrative drop cap designs based on famous figures who have contributed to society or impacted history. The designers researched their chosen figures by collecting written and visual data about their lives; including details about their origins, education, location, careers and achievements. Using this research, the students created illustrations highlighting each figure's memorable and distinctive qualities, capturing glimpses into the lives and accomplishments of the highlighted individuals. This is Columbus College of Art and Design's third printed collection of the Drop Cap project and the students have put together an excellent compendium of work showcasing multiple styles and artistic problem solving. We hope to continue this tradition and level of design work for years to come.
