I Was Born Under the Bad Star Suong (Happy) Tran

I retell details of my childhood before communism in 1975, my near-death experience during the war, my escape as a 'boat person', life on refugee status in the Philippines in 1981, and my experience as an immigrant in Canada starting in 1985. It is not a book with perfect grammar or skilled writing. Rather, it captures my experience, learning abilities, thoughts and emotions. This book is a written copy of who I am and what I (and many other Vietnamese people) went through. I hope readers will get a deeper glimpse into and understanding of the world of Vietnamese immigrants in the 1980s. I tried to publish this book more than a decade ago, but lacked financial means to pay publication companies. Now is my chance.
