It is a fictional tale of life and death in the Old South and the destruction of a culture. Out of the ruins emerged a new mindset, not of the slave, but the FREE Negro. Initially hindered by fear of the unknown they didn't venture far from the familiar confines of the plantation. Inspired by that same unknown, they embraced a new concept: FREEDOM. We live in an era of racism, profiling, reverse discrimination, police brutality, etc. This depiction of the Old West returns the reader to a simpler time. A life when a hand shake meant something. A person's word carried weight. Loyalties existed amongst brethren. Recognize yourself in some of the characters. Some of us will relive moments, some can only imagine. In reflection, remember what a glorious life it once was.
