James Wallace, an average eighth grade nerd, is just trying to get by in the unusual town of Globton. That is, until he unwittingly passes a test that convinces a secret order of math wizards that he is the one to defeat another powerful wizard, Matthew Ryder. But that isn't all. During his eighth grade year, James carries out favors for gambling spirits, deals with roving spitball gangs, struggles to maintain his friendships, and takes his first shot at love. It's gonna be a good year.
