It's a modern day tale of Little Red Riding Hood where crime runs rampant in the metropolis of Star City. With a less than desirable and crooked police force the residents of this dark city either take matters into their own hands or hire someone to do the dirty work for them. Enter Victoria Fantastic, or Vic as her friends call her, a hard hitting, badass private investigator with a foul mouth and a penchant for whiskey and right hooks. She gets the job done at whatever cost and she looks good in her Louboutins doing it. She's not above the law because the law barely exists. On her new case our protagonist is hired to find a stolen handbag made from an exclusive and extinct kind of reptile leather and to solve the murder of a young shop girl. This leads her into the darkest streets of Star City to discover something more sinister than she's ever dealt with before. She encounters a wildly powerful and ancient evil family that lurks the alleys and nightclubs and who have a plan to take over the city and the most powerful people in it. Vic finds unlikely allies in a drag queen, a local plainclothes police officer and a young girl in a red cloak. They race to solve the mystery of the pretty purse and the dead girl only to discover there is more than meets the eye when it comes to the citizens of Star City that no one ever expected.
